  • Desolder gun sponges?

So I have a Desolder gun with a 17mm sponge that goes behind a spring filter. The sponge looks just like the sponge used with the old soldering irons.

Where might I find a rather large sheet of this so I can make a punch and just cut my own as they don't seem to last long before clogging.

    Thanks,
    nosaj
soldering stuff that's broken, breaking stuff that works, Yeah!

Plato CS-17 sheet 8.5" x 17", 1" thick (when activated by water). Also has a thinner one, CS-17-625. Plato_Catalog_2016_LR.pdf (nteinc.com) Seems I bought these thru Mouser, can't recall the price, but was reasonable.

I use a wad of fine guage wire wool, just as Metcal do.
          Cheap, plentyful and successful.

If you can't fix it, I probably can.

Ours at work have a thick cotton like material and we use steel wool in front of that.

But a regular sponge would work fine, that's about how thick the filter material is right from the manufacturer.
You need the steel wool in front to catch the hot solder.
