    I got 73V on one side of R311 and 29V on the other and the print says it should be 40V.

      That supports J M Fahey suspicion of bad Q302 in post #8.

        Thanks. Q302 was my suspect all along. Ordered a replacement for Q302 and R311.

          Be careful if you are trying to get the original part (40410). They are obsolete and there are a lot of fakes out there.

            I ordered one from Talon Electronics, hopefully it will be OK. This is a bass amp for a friend and I want it to be perfect.

              Actually I have a bunch of them stashed away. NOS still in the original RCA boxes.
              Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.
