  • Ampeg VT-40 F-10 diodes

I'm working on an Ampeg VT-40 that someone else worked on recently. Complaint is that it blows the 4A fuse. I ended up finding a shorted D5. The schematic says F10 beside it, as well as beside D1-4. However, I'm not able to read the numbers on the diodes that are installed.

I'm also having trouble finding specs on what an F-10 diode is and if I can substitute something like a 1n4007 or 1n5551 that I have ample stash of. Can anyone provide insight into what spec (volts, amps?) this diode is and/or a viable alternative since I can't seem to locate any F-10 diodes. Thanks!

My apologies. I knew better, but rushed to post. Sorry about that.

Parts list shows 1A 1000V PIV for F10, 1A 1400V PIV for F8 (flyback diodes on OT).

Thanks, g1! Looks like a 1N4007 diode would meet the spec for an F10 diode then.
