  • Ordering replacement Littelfuse Fuse Holders for Fender Combo Amps

A recent repair I made on a Fender Deluxe Reverb, which was blowing fuses, had a defective Littelfuse 03450613H Fuse Holder, so I tackled that first. The exposed Metal solder tab/Faston part no longer fitted. It engages the two tiny contacts in the fuse cap when rotated to lock it into place, so installed another one. It was my last one, so I made a note to order more, and continue on with the repair.

Ordering more Littelfuse 03450 series parts as Fender uses on their Twin Reverbs, Deluxe Reverbs, Hot Rod series and others these days, I found on Mouser's website, two different part numbers for this part. 576-03450613HX040 @ $1.94 ea 1-9 pcs, and 576--3450613H @ $5.72 ea. Both Mouser product sheets showed the same picture, lacking the Fuse Cap. The Littelfuse 0345HV series data sheet that covers these does NOT specify a separate P/N for the fingergrip Fuse Cap, though DOES give P/N's for the Screwdriver caps of both fuse sizes. AND, the Mouser product page for the 576-03450613HX040 has a Specifications section, but no where on it does it indicate the presence nor absence of the fuse cap I looked at the other page on the expensive one, and there's no specification section, nor any indication of the presence of the fuse cap.

I did happen to have a bag containing the mating Fuse Caps, P/N 345603-020, but it wasn't a Mouser bag, and my purchase records don't indicate WHO I obtained them from. Maybe ebay?

I called Mouser this morning, spoke with one of the product specialist's on the matter, hoping to obtain the Mouser P/N for the Fuse Cap, and to raise issue with their product sheets on this Fuse Holder, neither p/n indicting presence of the fuse cap. I did get a P/N for the fuse cap. Mouser P/N 576-03453LF1HX-020 @ $3.66 ea 1-9 pcs. I added that price to the $1.94 I paid for the fuse holder, yielding $5.60. The other Mouser part that might have the fuse cap, though no indication that it does....costs $5.72 ea 1-9 pcs. Assuming it DOES have the fuse cap, that would still leave one to ponder why am I paying an additional $0.12 for this part? Surcharge for Mouser staff to find the part in the warehouse?

I was invited to go to Mouser's Feedback page. I did of course, just to call out the stupidity of what they can put you thru, with the help of the manufacturer, who didn't provide a P/N for the bloody Fuse Cap.

The Littelfuse 0353 series parts DO have separate P/N's for the fuse caps, more expensive & perhaps reliable part, no exposed budget-oriented matal part where one either solders or pushes on the connecting wire.

Sounds familiar.... Makes you wonder on robustness of the process they must go through to list a product.
