  • Peavey CS800 c variant input drive question

Got a couple of Peavey CS800 c variant power amps
What is a rough input voltage to drive the amp?

One side I can input 1.5v 1k tone into 4ohms and get a 38v clean sine on the Aside.
on the B side same voltage input i get a 26v clean sine.

Not to worried about the descrepancy as I'll figure that out but can't find any lit on recommended drive voltage for this amp.
    Thanks,
    nosaj

Spec sheet for the CS800 wind tunnel version is 1.4v RMS in for rated output. I expect the C version to be similar.

You already identified it as a C. "Wind tunnel" is a slang term for the later model with a big screened air vent on the front. I cited the wind tunnel because I didn't have a spec sheet for the C handy. They will be similar as the amps are equivalent.

ok cool. This thing is a beast. This guys loves this model for some reason he says he can run them all day long maxxed and never overheat.

User manual says 1.4V for 400W @ 4 ohms like Enzo said.
              Spec. in user manual attached.

We used a pair of these for years in my old bar band, but I found matched output transistors to be important. After the first pair or so of outputs blew, other would start to go as well, to the point where I used to bring spare TO-3s with me and field replace them when the amp blew up.
