  • Biasing Ampeg amp Teach me!

    Ampeg VT 120.

Has 2 "Test Points" on the back. Farthest right one has a ground symbol.
Also has what looks to be a small "BIAS" adjustment potentiometer on the back.
I have a DMM and new tubes. What next?

Explain this to me as if you were explaining it to an 8th grade kid, lol.
But seriously, I NEED to know how to do this.
Here is the schematic ... http://schematicheaven.com/ampegamps/ampeg_vt120.pdf

Thanks to all who help in advance!

read the notes at the bottom of page 2...

"5) Bias Adjustment: With amp in pentode mode and no signal applied, adjust P14 for 0.10 volt +/- .02 volts between TP1 and TP2"

TP1 and TP2 are the test points on the back of your amp...P14 is the bias adjust pot. Set your DMM to lowest DC volts range, stick the black probe tip into the ground test point TP1, put the red probe tip into the second test point TP2, make sure your amp is in Pentode mode, nothing plugged into the amp input. Turn it on and read the voltage on your DMM. Turn the pot until you get .1 volts (or 100mV)
