  • Seeking TWO POSITION (4/8 ohm) Marshall impedance selector

I have a vintage Marshall 2203 JCM800 on the bench and the impedance selector is intermittent. Tried looking inside the selector to see if it's repairable but nah, it's done.

Any source for a 4/8 ohm selector? All the usual suspects have 4/8/16 selectors but this amp's OT lacks the 16 ohm tap.

That is the CSA version of the amp. I don't think anyone is making a switch like that now, the only chance would be finding an NOS or used one on ebay etc.

      Damn Canadians strike again.

Since there are only 2 OT taps, I'd just bypass the switch and wire one tap to each speaker jack. Then, get out the label maker and label the jacks.

Or if you just gotta have the switch, lacking a 16 ohm tap, just run a jumper from the 8 ohm position over to the 16 ohm position. The switch will say 16, but you are still on 8. But you'll know.

A more complicated repair would be to do what this guy did with a washer. Then, find an appropriate SPDT rotary switch to install in the washer hole.

That's a good plan but it's rental gear so best I maintain the original jack configuration.

That's probably the easiest approach, though I'd scrape off the 16 ohm legend.
