  • Fender Blues Deluxe footswitch issues

    Hello,

I've got a Fender Blues Deluxe here that I'm having trouble with the footswitch.

Without the footswitch plugged in the amp will switch between channels perfectly with the front panel switch.

As soon as I plug the footswitch in, the LED on the front panel lights up and wont go out. The LEDs on the footswitch work and change colour like they should.

I have Fenders drawing number 0065561000 which seems fairly close. The channel select switch is wired close to the footswitch jack, which works indicating the opamp U3 is working as intended.

Its just when I plug the footswitch in I get no control over the channel select, the footswitch makes no difference, although the LEDs on the footswitch switch on and off as they should.

When the footswitch is plugged in, in takes the supply from the channel select switch and routes it through the footswitch.

Have you guys any idea what is happening here or maybe you've seen it before??

    Thanks in advance everyone..

Is the reverb switch working right?
How do the TP31 and TP33 voltages compare to voltages listed in the notes?

Is it actually in Drive mode when the footswitch is plugged in and the LED on the panel on? Does this have the PCB mounted jack with the clear window on top? Those are pretty prone to fail. Might want to see if the switchjack is disengaging from the panel switch when the plug is inserted.

        Thanks for that.

I'll have another look at it a little later this evening hopefully.

Now looking at that diagram, and that the footswitch switches the drive channel and the reverb on and off. On the footswitch it has "channel select", and "drive/more drive", so I'm wondering if it is actually the right footswitch?

Theres definately more inside the footswitch than is on the schematic, four or five diodes, a resistor, and the "drive/more drive" LED looks multicoloured.

Without the footswitch, the drive switch on the amp works fine.

The data plate is quite worn, but the serial number is B-275223. The assy number on the footswitch is P/N 0050419000.

I'll come later with some more information..

        Thanks again..

If it says Drive/More Drive it is almost certainly a Hot Rod Deluxe/Deville footswitch. They are wired differently

Sorry for the late reply guys..

Well I ended up checking out inside the pedal, and found a lot more than whats in the blues pedal, including a multicoloured LED!

Backed up by the diagrams above, it turned out the amp didnt come with a foot switch, and this one was indeed from a HotRod!

Hunting for a fault that didnt exist!!

              Thanks again everyone..
