Look at pic 3, does that look like a seam in the middle, looks like a couple smaller caps inside maybe?

Well I've been looking around and it seems that ALL the blue Atom 20uf/600V capacitors look like that. Though no other Atom caps do.?. But, the one Mouser has in their on line catalog is the current black Vishay version and it is a smooth aluminum can. Digikey has an image of a different Atom cap as a representation only. The tube and guitar amp vendor sites and *bay vendors that do have an image of a 20uf/600V blue Atom cap all have that funny look though. So either a bunch of fakes got dumped onto the market or that one Atom cap model just looks different.

Just to add, Nickb (Black Magic amps) sells MIEC caps - I don't think he would associate himself with the brand if the caps weren't of good quality.

I've had no issues with them. They work.

The MIEC caps are sold with the cap kits from fliptops.net too. I was suspicious at first because they were relatively small for a 600v rated cap, but after conversing with fliptops, I felt a lot better about using them in the B-15n I was working on. They really know their vintage Ampegs in every other aspect, so I trust their opinion.

EveryChina looks like a marketplace similar to Amazon or eBay but made to connect businesses to customers (mostly other businesses).

MIEC is made in Taiwan, not China. The parent company is called Full River Cap Co. Their website is https://www.miec-cap.com/

I have seen them used inside of the Hayseed Hamfest can caps, alongside Nichicons.

I have also seen them used in original Dumbles. I'll attach two Dumble gut shots that include MIEC.

In the 'Odyssey' Dumble, the Spragues are dated 1976, MIEC's website says the company was founded in 1979.

I do not use MIEC caps but I live close to Just Radios and do see a lot of amps that have previously been serviced with MIEC and have not seen one fail.

The new MOD line by CE is also made in Taiwan. They don't disclose the manufacture, but the spec sheets do look similar. MIEC does do custom branded orders in relatively large quantities.

JustRadios alleges MIEC supplies caps to NASA, and I believe MIEC had more info on this on their own website a couple years ago, which I can no longer find.

Okay I am man enought to admit when you are wrong. ;-)

I sent the cap back to Tube Depot. They then sent me a cap. Well they sent me the same cap back! On closer inspection is looks like the cap was not leaking and that the white spot was something other than leaking electrolyte.

My appologies to Tube Depot. They did the right thing.
