    Received a PV VK112 that sounds terrible.

    Found the bias voltage at -67 Vdc.
    Mains current is 31 watts!
    Scope shot showed severe crossover distortion.

    I found R205 reads at 61K instead of 33K.
    Color bands are correct for a 33K.
    Replaced the resistor and all is fine.
    Bias voltage is -52 Vdc. Mains current is 55 watts.

    Nice find! Makes me wonder if the resistor had been mismarked, or a previous amp failure may have given a hit to the bias voltage to make that resistor so far out of spec.

      I am at a loss to explain it.
      It is a China unit.
      I found an awful lot of resistor legs laid over & touching other traces (man I hate that).
      The amp was purchased at a Guitar Center.
      Knowing that it sounded like ass they gave the guy a deal. (Probably needs tubes!).
      I hope this didn't leave the China factory like this.
