  • Hot Rod Deluxe - FX loop jack upgrade?

    Hi, all.

Have any of you used switchcraft type jacks to replace the plastic fx loop jacks on these amps? Wrapping up a repair and the owner is asking about this.

One thing to keep in mind is any time you do this, whether input or FX loop, or even speaker, it is important to maintain the ground scheme. If the plastic ones do not have a metal bushing connecting to sleeve, they will be isolated from chassis. So the switchcraft replacement will need full isolation washer setup to maintain the ground scheme.
I've had nightmare ground loop/hum issues where the fault has ended up being a metal jack connected to chassis where it should not have been.

Preach. I made the same mistake myself. Customer decided to keep the stock jacks.
