DR Treble response

I have a SF DR that I put a 25k pot off the bass pot for a midrange control and it works fine. I've done this many times but this time it seems that there is no turning down the treble response,in other words it is like it is always on and has minimal slightly noticable effect when turned up. I suppose I could change the mid pot to 10k but it is just strange to me because this has never happened before.....Any ideas?

One worthwhile suggestion would be to check and see if your Deluxe has a ceramic capacitor on the [Vibrato channel] volume control. This is essentially a permanently ON bright switch. I, personally despise the sound of bright switches on Fender amps, they tend to bring out maximum harshness. With the capacitor removed, the amp sounds much sweeter.[/SIZE]

Interesting...But I did change the vibrato circuit from using the optoisolator to the circuit as on a Princeton, only using one triode and not stealing gain. There is a ceramic cap in the first slot I believe it's an .02uF. I will try removing that one, but I had a hard time just to get the vibrato to work....I hate to have to disable it if there is any other way.

??????No! NOT a cap in the Vibrato network. I was referring to a cap that is mounted on the VOLUME CONTROL of the Vibrato CHANNEL. There's no need to dismember the vibrato ckt.

Duh. sorry man...that was really dumb. I should have known better...I thought it was "interesting" cause I'd never heard of that before, but my excuse is that I was at work and read it quick.... anyway, I've already removed the cap on the volume control.

How about checking out the treble pot. If it is open at the low end, then it won't diminish the highs when turned. Also check the soldering, Since you were in that area of the circuit soldering, it is possible you cracked the solder on existing parts. Carefully check the solder on all the EQ controls.
