  • Brown Deluxe (6G3) capacitor value question

Recapping a mostly original 6G3 for a friend. Ordered cap values based on the kit from amprepairparts.com. Here's that list.

    3 F&T 16uF-475
    1 F&T 10uF-500V
    1 F&T 100uF-100V
    3 Sprague 25uF-50V

I'm a little confused by the 100uF/100V electrolytic, it seems like the only place for is the bias voltage. Schematic only has 25uF so that seems to be a pretty big increase, and 100uF is bigger than the bias voltage caps on any other of their kits for brown panel amps. I don't know if it is possible that this would load down the tremolo or something like that.

    Thanks in advance,
    Greg

I don't think it should be a problem- although certainly not necessary to go that high. The only concern might be the increased charge time and a split second extra time to establish bias voltage. But, the bias voltage should be well established before the tube heaters warm up, so I wouldn't worry about it.
