  • Lab Series L5 Amp. Just bought it- maintenance?

    Hey there!
First time poster here, long-time reader.

I just picked up a late 70s Lab Series L5 amplifier that actually has nothing wrong with it atm and sounding very nice.

I was wondering if there is any general maintenance work that needs to be done now - to maintain its longevity.

Off the bat- what would you recommend? OR would it be ok to keep it going as is - all stock?

I got some shows and sessions comin up and wanna make sure its good shape.

    Thanks in advance

As long as the main large capacitors are not swollen or leaking, I recomend you leave well alone otherwise you may, without intention, introduce issues and faults.
I see no reason to change components for the sake of it.
Support for Fender, Laney, Marshall, Mesa, VOX and many more. https://jonsnell.co.uk
If you can't fix it, I probably can.

+1 to Jon's comment. If it sounds good, no need to work on it. I acquired an L2 head (bass model in the Lab Series) a while back, went thru the entire calibration sequence just for curiosity, and everything was spot-on.

I Agree with Jon. You could do a visual inspection and if there's any concern post some pictures here, but it's best left alone and working.
