  • Speaker Recone?

I have an old Mojotone speaker, 12" 15W, alnico with voice coil rub.

Where would be the best place to send it to have it reconed? Does Mojo even recone their own speakers?

It seems good recycling ethic to recone. Where are you located? Ask around your neighbourhood as you won't want to bother shipping a speaker around the country. If it was vintage, Tone Tubby I think recones with hemp cones or the heavyweights like Santana...

If you're reasonably practical, and can get a recone kit, they are simple to recone yourself. Just need thinners to remove old cone and adhesive, and clear glue to fix new one. Ask mojo or whoever about supply of a recone kit - Peter.

I guess I didn't realize MOJO sold a 15" alnico speaker.... however the new owners bought the MOJO company from another owner in California a few years ago and moved to the East Coast, so I suspect it is from that West Coast era...
During those earlier days MOJO used Eminence to build all their speakers.
Does it have a model number and date code tape stuck on the magnet or anywhere?
Eminence starts their ID tapes with 067....

            Bruce,

Thanks for the reply, but it is a 12" speaker, rated for 15w.

Thanks for the tip on, I'll look to see if it has a Eminence code.
