I am modding my amp using Steve Aholas recommendations but would like to know how the cap value changes the tone in relation to the harsh tone. The stock cap is a 470pf and the recommended value is 390pf for a bright tone. He also says for a more distorted and thick tone use a 680pf cap. Will going to a 680 also make the tone harsh ? This mod is supposed to help reduce the harshness of the od channel. I would like to have a really thick distorted overdrive tone for the lead channel and go after the bright blues tone on the normal channel and even use a pedal for a little punch if necessary.
