  • EL34 to 6V6 impedance question.

Been using my Rivera Chubster(designed for EL34's) with 6V6's. Ive read that when swapping 6L6 to 6V6 the speaker impedance should be doubled to match best. (ie: 8 ohm amp use a 16 ohm speaker) Does the same hold true with an EL34 to 6V6 swap? thanks Bob

That is roughly accurate, close enough for rock n roll.

Thanks. I swapped a 16 ohm G12K-100 into it and this amp is finally sounding "right" to me with the 6V6's Always sounded harsh, raspy with EL34's. Tried some 6L6's too and liked them a lot. Now the 6V6's give me a tad less volume. Bob
