  • Peavey Classic30: boost modded

I modded (blueguitar.org) to increase the volume in the solos but it seems that the volume is not changed, just a bit brighter
How do you use the boost, for to have extra equalization or for lead guitar solos?

    thank you

My mod for the boost switch changes it to a mid-boost (also known as a "shift" control on some Mesa Boogie amps). And it was intended only for people who weren't using the stock boost because it was so intense. FWIW the Classic 50 did not use the boost in the Classic 30, which was the same as the one in the Classic 20.

    Sorry to have mislead you.

P.S. Since the boost is not footswitchable it might actually work better for you to leave the mods in place and just use a clean boost pedal to push your amp for solos. I have a BBE Boosta Grande which works great. I really like the alternate voicing of the modded boost switch for the OD channel, and it is usable for the Clean channel as well.
