  • 6L6 in triode mode, possible?

Is it possible to wire the 6L6 as a triode.
I see that the suppressor grid is internally hooked to the cathode...

Wiring a pentode in "triode mode" usually means disconnecting the screen grid resistor from the screen supply and connecting it to the plate. The suppressor grid connection doesn't change. If you look at the data sheets for 6L6's you will see "triode connection" plate curves.

Thanks for clarifying it for me. Thinking about the 6L6 being a beam tetrode I shouldn't have called it the suppressor grid, but now I realize that almost all amps have that "grid" connected to the cathode, anyway...
