  • messing with my marshall valvestate 8080

hi, first time poster, am wondering if this is possible?

i have 2 valvestate 8080 combos, what i want to do is put the speaker from one in to the other (so i have 2 speakers in one amp) in a hope to get more bass when its cranked up.

i understand that with 2 x 8ohm speakers im gonna end up with either 4 or 16 ohms depending on parallel or serial.

    so my questions are....

1 would it make any difference to the tone anyway as they are both pretty much the same speaker. (80W 8 ohm celestions)

2 would i need to do something to make the amp and the speakers the same ohm rating, or would 4 or 16 ohms work without compromising volume.

    any help much appreciated

Since the output stage is Solid State, it is safe to go with 16 Ohms (speakers in series). 4 Ohms may fry the amp unless it says something like "4 Ohm minimum load" on it.

    Cheers,
    Albert

That thing's going to be pretty heavy with 2 speakers in it.

I wouldn't bother.....it'll still sound like crap. You need a better amp brutha....
