  • LED in tube socket

Building up a tube board, and my sockets (from cascade surplus) have a hole which perfectly fits 3mm LEDs, so I put some red ultra high intensity units with insulated leads. The board is pretty close to the PV Bravo, I did put in a tant bypass cap on the second gain stage, there is a trace already there though unused (I included a 50k pot on back, in case it makes things go south!) The other bypass caps are tant/film, 22/1uf combos.

I also am running 2 bias circuits, and a 1M pot tap for the infamous dual diode noise gate (a la JSX)

I think I'll need nice clean DC on the LEDs and they may be a bit subtle from the bottom of the tubes...

You can run them in series - same current lights them all.

hey if it is pretty, its pretty.

For next time, how about this idea. get some of those bicolor or tricolor LEDs, and they could change color to indicate which channel you were in, or maybe they went from green to red when you peaked, or who knows what. I always like the PV Ultra PLus light up name panel that changed colors when you switched channels.

        these might work
Common Cathode 8000MCD Super Flux RGB LED-The Electronic Goldmine

though maybe not from the bottom, they are 7.5mm square and the center lens is ~2mm dia.

they are RGB and they have either common cathode or anode varieties, adding them would give any color desired
