  • Replacing output coupling caps in a el-84 Traynor Bass Mate; polypropylene?

I'm new here but I've messing with amps for awhile! I remember reading years ago about how certain types of caps work better for output coupling caps. It seems polypropylene or "Orange Drops" were mentioned.

What I'm looking for is more clarity. I'm wanting to reduce the .1uf caps for .047 or .02.

If I use Orange Drops, are the 715 type preferred? I have a set here but I recall these may not be the best OD.

    thanks

Maybe I posted this in the wrong forum? I was thinking this was a common mod to do.

Oh tons of people have re-capped their amps. Orange drop is a brand series, there are several types of orange drops. Kinda like Chevrolet.

DO a search for orange drops here, and look through the thread titles for caps. We discuss this stuff regularly.

So welcome to the forum, but do that bit of homework first.
