  • Increasing Bass response in Peavey Classic VT

    Hi, Guys,

I rcently bought an early 80's Peavy Classic VT Series, (like I had when I was a kid!) and would like to incoax some more Bass out of it. I am currently running a graphic eq in the Pre Out/Pwr In loop and it is adequate, but I would like to fix the issue, not just use a band-aid. Does anyone have any suggestions other than...

    filtercaps (on order)
    Tubes (did that)
    Speakers (tried That)

I was thinking of increasing the value of the coupling caps leading to the 6L6 grids. Would that help, and is there any suggested values to try? (0.1uF in there right now)

    Thanks!

    Keith

    Peavey VT

I would think that 0.1uf would pass all bass frequencies.
Did you take a look at the tone control values?

Are your speakers wired in phase?

Have you conected the head to a different cab?

Meanwhile, consider that not enough bass could be too much treble in disguise.
