  • Output Transformer Replacement?

I am replacing the stock OT in my Fender Champ 12 with an Edcor GXSE 15-8-5k. It seems pretty straight forward. The question is ..on the Edcor there are no leads but quick disconnects for 1-plate, 3-screen, 5-B+, 7-8 ohms, and 9-common. With the stock OT and in the Champ 12 schematic I dont see any OT leads going to the screen, the screen connects to C+ which is something I dont understand yet. Nonetheless I am learning slowly. I just want to know ( and Id like to understand the circuit a little better too) if I can just hook up the new OT and leave the screen tap alone ( not connected to anything)on the Edcor or should I connect it to the screen (pin4) of the 6l6. Any help is appreciated. Of course I may receive jabs for tinkering with this lowly red knob Champ 12 but it is my mod project and I am learning with every tweak ive made to it.
    Thanks Folks
Heres a link to the schematic

    and the edcor link

I think the screen tap (listed as screen/grid 40%) is for a so called "single ended ultralinear" tap, see here:
    The Fi Primer: Single-ended Amplifiers
you can cap it off for most applications (as WE like distortion)

Thanks for the heads up tedmich. That totally rings a bell now. I researched the Edcor OT about 8 months ago and forgot that they offer a screen tap..that is some sort of hi-fi SE option..but not necessary with guitar amps right? I called Edcor and the woman ( I think it was Phyllis ) very quickly answered my question that I dont need to use the screen tap. I bet she gets that one alot from noobs like me. Well now I just have to hope Ive mounted the OT in a good spot since it is way to massive to go in the chassis like the old one. Thanks again.
