    Assuming the power trany is up to the task, it's a hammond 270x. What needs to be changed for each of these tubes? Bypass cap and cathode resistor?

    Ideally, you'd use the right load resistance (change the output transformer) for each tube and operating condition, too. If you take a perfectly-tuned 5F1 and just throw in different tubes, you will probably have a really lopsided waveform that clips early on one side.

      Ok. What specificly would need changed? For the record I have briefly tried both of these tubes in the amp and they sound good. Both sound very different from each other, but sound good.
