  • 66 blackface fender bassman

hi i found this article for a mod to turn a 66 bassman into a ab165/ab864 hybrid. i would love to hear any ideas or comments about this mod. http://blueguitar.org/new/schem/fend...4_vs_aa165.pdf

i would like to know how much it would cost me most of all. parts and labor.

also, does anyone know of a good amp tech in the detroit/metro area?

I know a great amp tech in Lansing, he does all the work for Elderly Instruments. His name is Tim, his e- mail is timtube@comcast.com

I did that mod to a 67 and it sounded great, probably the best sounding amp I've ever had. Get rid of those two snubbing caps (they are tone killers for sure); that will really make it sound a lot better. I liked the stock value on the .022's, I thought the .047's thinned the tone too much, but that may depend on the rest of your setup.

Anybody have a step by step on how to do this mod?

I have a 67 bassman head I would like to do this mod to. I am familiar with soldering, but I need a step by step description of how to perform the mod. I dont want to mess up my prized bf! Any help would be appreciated!

          thanks

(I have a bf'd 72 vibrolux just in case! lol)
