  • Tremolo on normal channel? Fender Showman

My main amp for a while has been a Dual Showman and I pretty much use the vibrato channel for all my rockin needs. There is a SPST switch attached to the intensity pot that entirely disconnects the tremolo from the circuit making the vibrato channel sound way fuller. (i.e. Regis's 1965 Blackface Bandmaster page)

Since I don’t use the normal channel much can I move the tremolo to that channel? I have heard of similar mods used on reverb models to get reverb on both channels. Would this be similar in some way?

    Thanks, Greg

Are you saying you want "vibrato" on both channels or that you want to move the "vibrato" from the "vibrato" channel to the "normal" channel?

FWIW the two channels on that amp are the same with the exception of the "vibrato" effect and it's subsequent loading of the "vibrato" channel. You should be able to plug into the "normal" channel and get the same effect as when you flip the switch on the "vibrato" channel to disable the "vibrato".

(quotes are there because by definition "vibrato" is an alteration of pitch and "tremolo" is an ateration of intensity. since Fender made both types but failed the distinction, "I" chose to make the distinction)

      vibrato on normal channel

      Thanks for replying,

I want to move the virbrato (tremolo) to the normal channel only, not to both channels. I have the midrange cranked on the vibrato channel and it makes it sound quite different from the normal channel.
