  • 1986 Marshall JCM800 2204 mod

I just picked up a 1986 Marshall JCM800 2004 for peanuts. It has a effects loop mod added - how does it look? (not an expert here) have not used it yet, but the amp sounds fantastic with it off.

    Marshall FX loop

    I think it looks wonderful.
    Really professional.

Interesting. Usually it's a butcher job and a tone suck. If you just plug a jumper from the fx-in to the fx-out with the pads dimed, do you get a gain increase? Is it noisy? Is that an added tube buffer for the loop?

yes - There is another tube added -pretty sure. The chassis punched hole looks different but really neat work. the socket is screwed not riveted. I have not played with it yet.

          I agree. Very nice work.
Usually when I get a "modded" Marshall in for repair it looks more like this
