  • Using hifi-amp

Hi, this is my first thread in ampage.

I have an stereo tube amp, which was removed from
an old reel deck. It uses an 12AX7 and two EL84s.
I would like to make this use of guitar practice amp with
    my digitech rp80.

    1. However, I heard that tube amp can be broken
without connecting speaker. To keep it from
being broken, should I pull out one of EL84s?

    2. I don't have any extra spearker, so I think I should
pull out tube of one channel. However, I heard that
to pull out tube(s) can cause to increase B+ overall
and kill all parts (soon or later). Is it right?

To make story short, should I modify its PSU in order to
    lower the B+?

    Thanks.

use RP80, However, it has only one channel.

I would like to put my digitech digital
    gear (RP80) into it.

I don't understand what you are using this for if it's not connected to a speaker, however I believe you are right about needing a speaker and raising the B+ voltage. Whether or not this will damage the rest of the amp is hard to say, it may , or your amp may be able to handle the increased voltages.

Pull the tube, measure the B+ Tubes can take a fair amount of voltage.

Those tubes, in class A, are only a few watts
