It has a Line In/Out.

Try pin 2 V2, via a 1M resistor to isolate it from the channels.

So the resistor would be in series with the pin and jack? Please forgive my being very green

A buddy gave me an old Dynaco preamp and I don't a have a power amp on hand. It occured to me that I might be able to get just the power section from my 5e3. It's a project anyway so I don't mind experimenting on it. I want to be able to hear the Dynaco with no other preamps invloved.

S201b/a is a pad switch.

Would you want to use the Dynaco at the same time as using the other inputs, eg play along using the 5E3?
If not, don't bother with resistor. Just turn the inst / mic channel vols down. And straight connection to pin2 from the Dynaco.
Otherwise the resistor would be in-line. It's there to mix, and avoid the Dynaco affecting the other channels.

Probably not. I would most likely use it for vocal and acoustic tracks when recording. Thanks for the info. I'll report back later how it worked out for me.

ok, not bad. worked like a charm and was simple as pie. This kinda stuff is probably old hat and trivial for most of you by now but this is a budding new horizon for me and I'm ceaselessly amused by even the simplest of advances. Thanks for the help.

As for the dynaco/5e3 combination for recording, it's not bad at all. Does really well with the lows but the highs are a little lacking. I need to try it out with more than just the handheld recorder I'm using in this clip.
