Still on the super twin kick here.... I modded mine yesterday to match the pre-amp of a AB763 blackface twin reverb. It sounds infinitely better then it did before. There is now no active EQ section or presence control. I set the reverb up like a blackface TR - again it sounds so much better there isn't even a comparison. I've basically got the vibrato channel of a twin reverb (minus the vibrato) going through the master volume (.001uf cap) and pi/cf/pa of a super twin - really does sound good.
In looking at the PI and cathode follower on the STR, I'm wondering what the influence of that cathode follower has sonically on the amp. Also wondering about the configuration of the PI in the STR as it has 220k plate resistors.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone has modded this section of the amp or any thoughts on it.
