JCM900 EL34

Hi, I bought a JCM900 and saw that in series with one of the grid resistors of one EL34 somebody added an extra 2k2 resistor.Is this supposed to be some kind of mod ?
I Attached the schematic , the extra 2k2 is in series with R27.

I think that the mod was an attempt to reach 5K.
I have seen no resistors all the way up to 220K.

1k5 with 2k2 in series gives 3k7 as grid resistor for one EL34 while the other EL34 has 1k5 as grid resistor ; doesn't this create an unbalance in the pushpull design ?

Maybe an attempt to match some unbalanced tubes?
