  • Mod's to Marshall avt's 150h..valve state amps

Ever get feed up with these amp's and there o/p stage dying out when you need them!

here's a mod to keep them running better than before, well the amplifier stage any how

    (1) remove the ic power amp stage..replace the 1000uf caps with 3300uf x2 or if you can fit them 4700uf's next..fit fuse socket's on the rear of the case screw in type is best, has it save's time opening up the amp later on...(2) use an amp module that can work on supply rails of up to 60v dc +/-..next do some metal work the shape brackets to fit the new amp in place.. if possible you can use a ready made amp module or if you can make your own even better..power ratting should be 100w to 150w rms will sound and do the job real nice...(3) trace the signal from the front panel to where it feed's the old o/p stage and fit and screen cable from that point for the new module...
Use better cable's for the ht feed instead of the blue connection cable's...

having done the mod..check all is well and there's no high level dc on the new amp's speaker out put..if you have test gear such as scope..signal gen etc it makes life easer...

You now have a Marshall head/combo that will stand up to prolong use with out blowing up...I've built My own amp module's and fitted them in many of these amps and there still in use...

I find hurling them beneath the wheels of a speeding train is a cost-effective mod.

All Valvestate power amps have current feedback to make them sound more tubey. Just replacing it with any old amp module will change the tone. It'll sound duller.

If I ever find a busted MF350 cheap, I ought to do that. Either build a new power amp for it, or throw it under a train, or both.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

speeding trains make a mess and the poor amp will be a mess...!!

well the mod's work for those student's on a shoe string budget and get them gigging again...some time's we fined ourselves doing mods and rethinking away forwards just to get a equipment working...
