Hey everybody, I'm new here and I'm maybe just past the beginning stages of learning tube amp building. I've recently bf'ed and then modded a silverface Vibrolux Reverb of mine, and since I never use the first channel I modified the preamp circuitry significantly.
I made v1 the only input and made it a cathode follower that feeds into the tone stack and then into v2 off of the volume control. V2 has all grids, plates, and cathodes in parallel with each other and after that it's your typical blackface Fender reverb amp for the rest of the circuit (except for the phase inverter, but I don't see that causing the problems I'm having).
The problem is that I have weird pops happening quite often, tone pot scratchiness (which I assume is from DC voltage from somewhere), and it could probably use some gain reduction as now the amp gets way more hiss and the volume comes up much faster.
I think I could tweak the gain down with some work on v2, but I cannot figure what's causing the other problems. If I can find some way to make a schematic or layout of what I did then I'll be sure to post it.
Thanks to everyone for reading this.
