I have this infuriating need to try to improve things guitar... case in point, I tryed to remove the speaker from a Mash all VS65 combo. The idjits glued the darn thing in, the surround spacer ring stayed in the cabinet and the cone tore in several places...hatchet to my head please. The result was I had to find another 12" speaker as the original gold back was nacked. My local music shop had several repl.s but I liked Emminence from a previous cabinet build and went with a Texas Heat, not British but Well.... I'm glad I hosed up the original. It's a different amp now. This is a really good replacement for this combo. Much more mid range and full souding that the original Gold thing...who'd a thought a speaker would change an amp so much?

I prefer the EVM 12L, it weighs 27 pounds, which is a bit much, but I have this infuriating love of cast frame speakers.
I know the Texas heat sounds better than the stock speaker, it has much clearer highs. We paired it with the Cajun somethingorother.
But the amp still weighed too much. I mean oofda! I think I'm going to try Neodymium magnets instead, and save the money normally given to the Chiropractor.
There's no doubt that a better speaker freshens up your amp, but the better ones are heavy, you best believe it. (Now.... will the staples holding the cabinet together pull apart?)
