  • Headphone socket

I have a little Peavey Decade practice amp and I would like to add a headphone socket. Will I need to attenuate the signal and if so how? I looked at the schematic for the Backstage Plus amp and there appears to be no attenuation at all just a switched stereo socket between the amp and the speaker. Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks Dave.

    Uhm..
There is a 220 ohm 1 watt resistor in series with the headphone jack.

yes I see that on your schematic, I have a different schematic. I would post mine but don't know how to attach it. Cheers Dave.

              Yeah that is different.
I had used the Backstage schematic.
In this case Peavey is using a 150 ohm 5 watt resistor to ground.(R66)
It is only engaged when the headphones are inserted.
Either way you have to limit the headphone signal.
You may want to contact Peavey for the jack.
(or beat your head against the wall trying to find the correct one)
It must disconnect the speaker when the headphones are inserted.

Thanks for that I noticed on your schematic the Jack socket would have to have like a seperate switch to disconnect the speaker and engage the headphones with the resistor. I'll have to dig deep in the spares box or maybe even use a seperate switch. Somehow I'll figure it. Thanks for your time and replies. Cheers Dave.

If you use the 150 R to ground make sure you isolate the jack from the chassis.
If not possible, wire up the 150 R as in the Backstage.
                  In series with the signal.
