:Blackheart 5 watt OT replacement

hi, i've been slowly modding the BH5 and am up for possibly replacing the OT. I have scoured the net for info.

I've read that the stock OT is actually pretty good. Has anyone here changed theirs out? What to...and to what actual benefit? The Blackheart has slowly been becoming my no.1 amp the last 3 years due to its lower volume, portability and good sound. Mods so far have been the quieting ones, and NOS tubes. I play it thru a 12 inch Jensen alnico home-made cab. And the Pro Jr, also with quiet mods, feedback loop & NOS tubes is sitting in the closet.

i've just found out about the 'Mercury mod Kit', & except for the IT replacement, i'm thinking of trying to do all that on the cheap finding my own parts. And whats about the choke-kit... anyone used the hammond one?

I don't think you will improve the sound by going to a "better" transformer.
Best case, not much will change; worst case you'll have deeper bass, which you probably won't notice much , and extended highs, which may sound brittle or fizzy.

Here's a single ended Transformer made By ClassicTone.
I like their transformers. Price not too bad.
It's a heavy duty 15 Watt.
For all different tubes on single ended amps.

Let us know how it turns out.
They may have a choke also.
I didn't look for it.
