  • Need a power source for a fan in a Peavey 6505

I am installing a power scaling kit into my amp and i need some cooling. I will use a fan from a laptop with the specs 5V and 0.4A.

I can not find any specs for the power transformer. Do anyone have a suggestion how to solve this?

    It's a 120watt amp with 6L6 power tubes!

What the tubes are is irrelevant. You are trying to power a fan.

However, allow me a thought. You have started with a fan and now want to buy stuff to power it. WHy not start with the power already available inside the amp and buy a fan that will run on that? The simplest solution would be a 120VAC fan. No special power supply, just tap into the amps mains wiring.

The amp also has two 24VDC suplies in it, you could easily run a low current 24vDC fan from one of those.
