  • Celestion G12H for valve junior

Hi im thinking about making a 1x12 extension cab for my valve junior combo, im going to add an 8 ohm tap off the transformer. I was thinking about the celestion g12H, just wondering if anyone has any reccomendations? Im going for a lot more fuller sound than with the 8" stock speaker. Open or closed back ?
    Thanks

    I like the speaker.

..a bit 'oversized' equates to a bit fuller, mainly in the bass.
Start with open back, take a seat pad and stuff the back sealed, or just back the amp up to the pad/wall to close the back off, you can hear the difference the back tends to make.
Open: tends to be looser sounding, and feeds the drummer some guitar [if positions allow], a different sound, uses the back of the room maybe for 'reverb'.
Closed ported:, somewhere between open/sealed, and can be ~tuned for bass resosnant freqs.
Sealed: tight sound, greater foreward projection.
Padding, I put padding in them, IIRC 1/2'' per sq. foot of volume?...something like that ~<1/2'' of padding is what I got, it seems to control bass..bass..increases definition
I tend toward backed cabs, ported, but I'm using 2x12''s mostly. Ported.
Open back, backed into a corner, but I can't always find a corner where I want one..
One of the first things I do before placing a guitar cabinet is look for a table to set it on, to be put against a back wall.
I think it'd be cool to see reflex cabs for little amps, being a little more efficient in the bass dept., box cabs are a heck of a lot easier though.
