  • Output transformer swap?

I'm building my first 5 watt class A tube amp. It's the ModkitsDIY MOD 102. I already had a small cabinet with a 12" 4 ohm Celestion speaker in it that I want to use. The output trans in the kit is 8 ohm. I purchased an output transformer with the same 5K ohm on the primary and the secondary has both a 4 and 8 ohm tap on it. Question: Can I hook up the 4 ohm lead and the common to the speaker plug and just cap off the 8 ohm lead for future use, or do I need to connect it?

Yes, you can cap off the unused lead.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"
