  • KT66 in SF Bassman?

I´m sure this is not the first time it has been brought up but I´m wondering if the power tranny in an SF Bassman can handle the slightly higher filament current of the KT66´s.
As much as I love 6L6´s I´d like to try something new.

    TIA/ Andreas

I dont think it will be a problem, but to see if the PT's heater winding can handle the extra current, just install the KT's and check the volts on the heater,if they dont drop below 6.3 you will be okay.

Hmm, yeah. A voltage drop would be a sign that something is wrong.
      Thanks for the advice.

It is a sign that the tubes heaters are drawing too much current. If you still get 6.3 you are okay.
