  • Mustang III

I have a Mustang III amp which I think is a great little amp except I don't much like the Celestion G12T-100 spaker in it. I have a really nice Eminence speaker I want to put in but it is 4 Ohm. The Celestion is 8 Ohm. will this amp handle a 4 Ohm speaker without doing any damage, over heating or anything like that. Cheers Dave.

The Mustang III is a solid state amp.
Being that, the output power is directly proportional to the speaker load.
Halve the load & you double the power.
Assuming that the amp itself can generate the power.
    Read that last line again.
And assuming that the output circuit can stand up to that power level.
    Read that last line again.
So my first thought is 'don't do it'
Most combo amps are not made to provide double the combo's output power.
    You really should ask Fender.
