Music Man RD50 112 6l6 to 6v6

I have been conflicting answers, but does anyone on here know if I could swap 6v6's into my Music Man RD50 without any hassle or having to mod it? (runs 6l6's now) Thanks!

With the kind of voltages most Musicman amps run the power tubes at, I think it would be an instant fireworks display if you tried to run 6V6's in there.

Doesn't it help that the screens are at 295 volts?
Granted the plates are at 595Vdc.

Sweet like honey without the sting, maybe for the seller.

I've never seen anyone use this kind of device without coming to grief.

Maybe they would work OK in an amp that had B+ in the low 400V region max.

I'd be very wary of using 6V6 in the RD50. If you wipe out the solid state drive circuit, what a pain in the neck to fix.

OTOH a properly working RD50 is a darn nice sounding and very portable amp. The "limiter" channel is unique. Maybe not everone's cup of tea, but I like it. Always fun to play-test an RD50 when one comes in for repair.

Use it as is.
No point in using 6V6 there.
If too loud, lower Master volume, that's what it's for.
