hi, i'm new to the board but have been checking it out for awhile before i decided to post this question.
for a push pull output transformer, is there a specific orientation in which the plate leads must be wired? the center tap goes to B+, i know that much.
i am wondering this because, i would like to put an after market OT in my mesa f-100 amp. i tried to wire a mercury magnetics axiom O100JM in it before (which was previously in a modified crate blue voodoo 120 amp) and when it took the amp off standby, all it did was make a nasty screech. i turned off the amp immediately and then put it back into the crate, to which it works good.
did i miswire something? i checked the schematics for the crate BV120 and a mesa DC-5 series amp (the DC-5 was the fore-runner to the mesa f-100 series, and from what i understand are very similar circuit wise) and both the mesa and crate run under pretty similar conditions (from what i see). what did i do wrong? thanks, garrett
