  • Clip from my moded 5E3

Just in case somebody is interested...

OK this is my Ceriatone 5E3 which is moded to take 6L6,GZ34 tubes, and I also added Bruces Vol/Tone Mod.
I recorded this with my home-made 1x12" Greenback cab and a Shure SM57 mic.
This was recorded without any pedals, only my guitar straight into the amp.
I did use a little VST reverb for the mixdown and I also added bass and some drums for a better feel.

Rhythm track is my CS Tele (neck pickup) - "MIC - Normal" channel Vol3, Tone9
Lead track is again my CS Tele (bridge pickup) - "MIC - Normal" channel Vol5, Tone9

As you can hear the Tweed character is still there, the famous dynamic response with nice brakeup...
Well the clip is very much self explanatory I think.

PS: Please focus on the sound and not playing.

hallo. sounds nice. I have heard many soundsamples from "professional" amp-makers, which didn`t sound as good as yours.

did you build the amp by yourself?

i'm waiting on my TAD (germany) princeton 1x12 kit to come. we'll see, maybe i'll post a soundfile, when i have finished it...

    oh, and i love telecasters...

      Thanks for a compliment

No I didn't build it, I bought a finished one from Ceriatone. I did install the tone/vol mod.
Ahh princeton is a fine amp. I almost bought one myself but then I decided I want a Champ. (5W is more than enough for home use ).

        ah, yes...

where do you live? anyway, i didn't hear anything from ceriatone before... do they sell kits too? (i live in vienna, austria, and if they are in the USA, it's + 30% customs + ups, you know...). but the TAD kits are pretty well, i guess... i'm gonna change the caps, and i will use NOS tubes in the pre-amp... have you ever tryed 5751 RCA's? they're really great, and mullard ecc83's too... but they're not cheap, even on ebay...

and 4 the soundfile... well, i'm working as a sound-engeneer in a musical-theatre... i know, what i'm talking of... (sorry for my bad english...) really, it's not easy, to nail down the sound of an amp... (see u-tube, matchless, carr, bad cat, swart amps, whatever...) I think, it's not really possible to get the sound of an amp out of a computer-speaker/mp3, and so on, but you got really close...

we are neighbours, I live in Slovenia. Yes Ceriatone does sell kits... and they do it so cheap, even with VAT and customs fee. Here in SLO we pay 25%...and it's still cheaper than TAD kits I believe.
I use JJ and EH tubes for now. I just bought a Tung-Sol 12AX7, to see if it's any better. I'm happy with those, to me it doesn't make any sense to spent a lot of money on tubes. I'm quite happy with the sound that I have, so whay fix something if it ain't broken.
Thanks again for the compliment, my recording gear is not state of the art but I have some experience and I try my best to make it work for me.
BTW this is my web page, you can hear my music there and see my fiddles.

PS: Your english is just fine. Mine is not that much better.

I'm from Skofja Loka (central part of Slovenia).
Just in case you decide to go with Ceriatone, I can say I bought three amps from them and I have nothing but good experience with them. Just wanted to say that, 'cause some people are a little sceptical when ordering stuff from some people living in Asia.

Hey, BTW if you missed my Champ thread, this is how my champ sounds like BF_Champ
I used the same guitar, speaker and I used the same backing track. Really easy to compare the character of both amps.
