  • AC15 Tranny Upgrade ?

I read somewhere about upgrading the output transformer in new AC15's having the effect of making the low strings notes stronger.
I'm considering changing it to an 'upgraded' piece of iron.
First I need to source a Vox Reissue AC15 schematic.
Then I need to choose the transformer.
Perhaps I could be steered in the right direction about this...
Great sounding amp could use a touch more bell like low note tones.
Speaker transitioned from Wharfdale>Celestion Blue>Greenback, Tone Tubby goes in next. I have a box of spare brands, various new tubes to try out also.
I'm searching for sources of arhived online discussion of this amp, it's components, also how to increased the tremolo speed.

I got a custom wound (slightly beefier) OT from Ingo at Shinrock, it's running a pair of 6V6s from a DC30 type preamp - sounds fantastic.

I've had a couple of things from Shinrock, they're always built very well and sound great, downside is they're a wee bit slow at getting the orders out. If you're in no hurry it's not a problem though.

I've refurbed a few reissue AC15s and the three things that really made a difference was better speaker(s), using a pair of NOS EL84s or new JJ EL84s and a Mercury Magnetics output transformer for the AC15. Nothing else made that much difference.
Not cheap mods but those did raise the bar... and the one with the single 12" Alnico Blue was KILLER.
I know people disagree but I greatly disliked the Tone Tubby speaker and the reissue Greenback wasn't very good sounding to me. A MOJO BV30H sounded pretty good though.

What I meant to say is that the Greenback speaker didn't sound that great in these amps.

Thanks Bruce, not the content [MM=$] I exactly wanted to hear, but exactly the information I was looking for.
