  • Vibrolux / Tweed Mod?

I've got a late '70's Vibrolux that has been blackfaced and reverb on both channels. Nice sounding amp so far. I also have a 5E3 tweed that I built that I really love.

Are there any mods that can be done to the normal channel of the Vibrolux that would give me the voicing of the 5E3 tweed? Jumpering those two channels would be great versatility?

Thanks in advance for your help.

IIRC the channels are out of phase in a Vibrolux Reverb, so you wouldn't be able to 'jumper' them like an old tweed Fender, or four-hole Marshall. You can sort of fool one of the channels into a more 'tweed like' sound by turning the bass and treble controls all the way off. The circuit can be modded to a tweed tone stack like a tweed super, but that's going to be a bit of surgery.

Thanks Sweetfinger. I've already done the reverb mod that included putting the channels in phase so I've got that part accomplished. It sounds like rewiring one of the channels to a tweed voice maybe quite involved. I've built a couple of amps so I've I've got some limited experience under my belt, but always looking to learn more. Thanks
