I have a friend with an even older one. Same characteristics. But I don't know anyone with a newer one.

I guess I might try to get a response from Traynor about this topic.

For those of you following this thread--I just found something interesting with the tank--the leads coming into the tank seem to have been installed incorrectly or switched. I discovered this and swapped them and eliminated the feedback and most of the shrill quality!

Are you talking about the actual leads from the amp to the tank (two) and switching left to right or the wires in a single cable were reversed?

Yeah, just those two--red and white--RCA cables coming to the tank from the amp were swapped.

I replaced the 100p in C34 with the smallest ceramic capacitor I had. It has an underlined 1. I assume it's bigger value than 100p. Maybe you guys would know what that underlined 1 means. I was guessing it meant 1nF, which would be 1000p.

Anyway, there might be a subtle improvement in sound. Can't say for sure. Maybe just my relief of getting the amp back together still working.

Enzo, Mark, Steve, and Bill--Thanks for your help with this little mod! I can finally use the reverb, all the way up to 12, and it sounds fine anywhere in the full range!

              I replaced the 100pF C34 in the recovery with a 560pF; and I replaced the 400pF shunt cap with a 100pF in C59.

I'm sure the engineers who designed the sound wouldn't approve, since my mod takes away that everlasting zing, and maybe the reverb now is just a bit too chunky for some. But I'm liking it a lot, since I can use the entire range of the reverb without that tinny ringing sound. The sound quality with reverb on is just a bit more treble than with the reverb off, but the difference is minor now.

I was looking at the changes Traynor made in subsequent versions of the YCV20 amp--that's listed in the schematic. They did a lot of changes to the resistors in the reverb circuit. I checked my actual board and have none of those changes in my version, which must mean I'm Version 3.0. Could one of you take a look at that reverb circuit and the changes in the resistor values and take a guess at what they do?

They obviously knew the reverb wasn't dialed in very well. Virtually every consumer review of this amp mentions the obvious shortcomings of its reverb--that you couldn't turn it up past 3 or 4 without serious ringing.
