  • Vibro champ to Reverb Unit!

I converted a vibrochamp to a reverb unit.
First of all , it is a homemade diy amp, not an original.

    Here are the voltages:

    12at7
    Pin1-110v (schematic says 105v)
    Pin3-1.8v (schematic says 1.8v)
    Pin6-115v (120v)
    Pin8-1.8v (2v)

    7025
    Pin1-158v (160v)
    Pin3-1.2v (1.2v)
    Pin6-240v (250v)
    Pin7-108v (120v)
    Pin8-120v (130v)

    6v6 instead of 6k6
    Pin3-280v (225v)
    Pin4-284v (295v)
    Pin8-22v (24v)

Instead of a choke, I put a 1k/2W and a 5Y3.The reverb tank is from my ’64 super reverb.
Excellent results, a little buzzing-humming, nice surf sound but it is not very clean. It distorts (harsh) due to the 6v6.I think if I put the 6k6 should clean the sound (if I find it here).
One question: Can I tweak the value of the 1K/2W from pin8 of the 6v6 to make it clearer (maybe 2K/2W)? Because I have 280v in pin3 instead of 225v.

    Thanks a lot

Switching to 2K 2W at the 6V6 cathode will push up the plate voltage further and bias the tube colder (probably harsher). I'd try 6K6 first and see where you go from there.

If you rebias to suit a 6V6, you may end up too hot for 6K6 should you want to try that later.

      Hi MWJB!

Then switching to 470/2W at the 6V6 cathode will push down the plate voltage.
I''ll try it and see what happens.

BTW i was looking the 70's reverb unit that uses 6v6 and it's a different schematic than the 6g15.
      Take a look:
