  • AB165 bass channel=>plexi mod

    Has anyone done this mod and if so can you explain it to me. I have an AB165 and the bass channel is just going to waste because I never use it. I know there is one triode going unused in there too. So I assume the plexi mod makes use of that triode as well as boosting the mids. If anyone has done this mod, can explain it and pass on some values to me I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks To All

    Take a look at the schematics of both amps and see what you have to do to convert the Bassman to the plexi. One problem is the plexi has two channels, or rather two different input sections, with two very different bias points and cathode bypass caps. You'll have to decide which one you want to use, or maybe you're own version. You might want to use the AB165 input, then go with the plexi values in the rest of the channel. Or, take a look at the 5F6A Bassman and consider that for inspiration too.
